Happy 30th anniversary to Schmidt’s Market the family owned gourmet produce store located at 120 North Sea Road in Southampton. From their humble beginnings on Jagger Lane, Schmidt’s Dennis, Danny and Jennifer have evolved into one of the most fun businesses in the Hamptons to visit. Open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Schmidt’s offers grade “A” produce from around the globe. A full service gourmet market with catering for any event, daily hot luch specials which can be checked out at schmidtsmarket.com, a prime meat department and fresh fish just a mile or so up the road at their sister location, Schmidt’s Seafood Market. In addition to groceries one can find fresh flowers, sushi, the largest salad bar around, food specialty items and fruit baskets that start at $25 with free local delivery. Visit the spotless deli counter and check out the hot and cold lunches, soups and sandwiches
from eggs to shrimp salad. Where else can one find exotic fruits and vegetables from aloe to ugly fruit? You can also find wild mushrooms like porcini’s from South Africa, blue and yellowfoot chanterelles, lobster, morel, oyster, shiitake and organic king trumpets. Fruits and vegetables from around the world run the gamut from aloe to yucca with everything rare and exotic in between like cardone, chayote, daikon, frisaii, jicama, kholrabi, lemongrass, lolla rosa, loquats, mache, persimmon, sharonfruit, starfruit, pommelo, quince, black radish, rhubarb, rutabega (o.k. they’re just turnips), tangelo, heirloom tomato, trevisano and golden beets.
